Building a brand new playground takes a significant amount of funding. The Kenosha Dream Playground Project is committed to building a new playground for children of all abilities in Petzke Park. Funding is currently at the forefront of the Kenosha Dream Playground Project’s mission; they are looking for capitale anywhere they can in order to break ground for the new playground as soon as possible. Thankfully, a notable donation is about to come their way. A former drug house, previously known as the “horror house,” has been transformed into a “dream maker house,” said Kenosha 11th District Alderman Scott Gordon. After being sold by the city of Kenosha through the city’s nuisance property law, the former drug house was bought by LandQuest Realty to be remodeled and sold, all profits benefiting the Kenosha Dream Playground Project. The house was put on the market for $116,000 and will hopefully make a quick turn around.

A virtual Advance Warfare starts Day Zero Nov 3. 2014

Call of Duty is a first and third person shooter video game, the series originally began on the PC and later expanded to both handle held and home consoles. Call of Duty Advance Warfare is scheduled to be released on Nov. 4 2014. Fans can preorder a copy beforehand at most major retail locations and get the Day Zero edition, for the same price as the regular edition.  All local GameStop’s in Illinois and Wisconsin will be hosting a midnight release event at midnight on Nov. 3 2014. Fans will be able to pick up their preordered Day Zero edition and start playing immediately.

During Day Zero on Nov. 3 –Nov. 4 2014 all online multiplayers will receive Double Experience points. Double Exp is a special mode that allows all players to receive twice the normal amount of points for all kills and achievements causing players to level up at twice the normal rate.

When Call of Duty fans preorder Advance Warfare they also receive two new weapons the AK-12G Assault Rifle and the CrossBow-B2. A brass exoskeleton and EM1 Quantum directed energy weapon that uses energy instead of bullets. Advance Warfare Pro edition comes with the season pass, Gorge bonus multiplayer map, two weapons: the Bal-27 AE Assault Rifle and Atlas .45 AE pistol, Atlas exoskeleton, Atlas helmet, Atlas player card, five bonus supply drops, An Atlas collectable Steelbook, A welcome to Atlas: Advanced soldier manual and official Call of Duty Advanced Warfare soundtrack.

Wisconsin Governor Debate: Advantage Mary Burke?

The first Governor debate between Governor Scott Walker (R) and candidate Mary Burke (D) just concluded in Eau Claire. Before the debate, a poll from Marquette University Law School had Scott Walker up in the polls by 5 points with a 4.1 percentage point margin of error, but that number may decrease after people start to evaluate the debate. The one hour debate seemed to focus on a few key things: jobs, taxes, minimum wage, and education funding. Burke started the night by questioning Walker's promise to create 250,000 jobs. Walker used his opening statement to call for an open and honest debate about the future of Wisconsin. Ironically, Walker was the one who was dodged questions and seemed to overwhelmingly talk about his tenure as Governor instead of talking about how he plans to better this great state. Burke seemed to be strong throughout the interview by sticking to the point and being very clear. One of the most interesting points of this debate came when the candidates were both asked if they were planning on serving their full terms if elected. Mary Burke stated the she wanted to be the longest serving Governor that Wisconsin has ever had and Walker said that he plans to serve for four more years. This should be a very interesting point to the voters, because Burke clearly seems more committed to Wisconsin than Walker, who's name is linked towards being a Presidential candidate.

If Scott Walker really wants to win this race, he better quit thinking about a potential run for President in 2016/2020 and focus on the issues at hand, because Mary Burke exposed him tonight. The two candidates will have one more debate before November elections and it will take place in the Milwaukee Public Television studios on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.

Ebola in Kenosha? - Matt Kelly

A woman flew into O'hare international airport earlier this week, and upon the discovery that she was from Liberia. A country plagued with the Ebola virus, she was detained and sent to Kenosha County Jail for further observation. Noticing no symptoms or signs of the virus, officials sent her back to Chicago early Thursday morning. The woman was detained in a negative air-flow cell to ensure no spreading of the disease during her time spent in the facility.
This was quite a scare for the Kenosha area as I saw social media blow up with the news. The idea that a disease is so contagious that it can wipe out entire communities is certainly a scary one. Hopefully it remains only a scare, and our country can continue to watch its boarders, while keeping the citizens from harm.

When applying for Internships this past couple of weeks I've been sending out my Resume to many corporations and organizations. Now i'm sure many of you have done the same when applying for internships or jobs as well. Yet studies have shown people tend to make some common mistakes in their resumes that could cost them a chance to even be called back.
           
In the article "4 Things Recruiters are Tired of Seeing on Resumes," Catherine Conlan claims that being too wordy and not getting to the point can shy away recruiters, having gaps of no employment between jobs with no explanation can be seen as suspicious, having an objective statement is irrelevant, along with reference upon request. This is just an unnecessary line that tends to take up space on a resume. Making these little adjustments can strengthen and overall help you to find a job.

With people having a harder time getting jobs in our society today, it is very smart and relevant to take these tips into an account. Or if you have ever applied to a job and wondered why you never heard back, these things could very well be the reason. Though the y may seem small minuscule to you, to a person looking to hire, it could be a huge benefactor to why they never gave you a chance.

Is football creating monsters?

The other day I had an interesting discussion with a friend of mine about the current state of the National Football League (NFL). With domestic violence, child abuse and murder surfacing around some players in today’s game, we both started to wonder how those players got to those points. And then it dawned on us: Is it because of football?

Football is a very violent sport as we all know, and in recent years it has been under the microscope after the recent and continuing developments football has had with CTE. With many head collisions, on top of the amount of pressure – physically and mentally – players go through, you have to wonder if it’s the game itself that is pushing players over the top. The non-stop travel, the unease you feel knowing your career and job can be taken at literally any given time. It’s almost like you’re practically on the edge of your seat in fear every day, right?

I love the game of football, and always will, but with it already being proven that football leads to short-term and long-term brain damage, I’m really starting to think it can lead to creating the monsters in our society today too.

This article discusses one of my favorite ad campaigns. It's something that specifically targets women, and conveys the message that we are a lot more beautiful then we think we are. We truly give ourselves less credit then we deserve. I think people in general are their own biggest critics. We see the worst in ourselves, and I think this ad teaches us to be a little less critical, and see in ourselves what others see in us. It's about being comfortable with who you are and giving yourself permission to be happy.

The only negative thing I get from this ad is some of the words the women use when describing their sketches side by side. One women associates looking fatter with being sadder and closed off, and then the thinner sketch of her she describes herself looking open, friendly and happy. You hear another women describe someone else as having a "nice little nose". Who says being skinny automatically means your more friendly? Or only little noses are nice? It shows how much outward appearance and societies values and ideas of what beauty really is truly has a heavily influence on our opinions on what makes people attractive, or this idea that their character is defined by their physical appearance.
